In addition to the training that we offer with our Peace & Justice Initiatives and Mission Adventures program, we are also very active, living and serving in our urban community. Our presence in Winnipeg’s West End has many expressions, as we are more than just missionaries to our community, but also neighbours. Therefore, in addition to any programs or events that we offer or participate in, each of us also lives in the community, participating in the life of the neighbourhood.

We do, however, have more formal ministries in the community, which are as follows:

Church Plant Partnership

As our relationship with people in the community deepened, we found that we were naturally moving in the direction of creating a small community of faith in the neighbourhood.  To that end we have entered into a partnership with Mennonite Church Manitoba to plant an inner city church.  We are now worshiping together as Little Flowers Community.

Affordable Housing/Community Supports:

Given the great need for affordable, safe and dignified housing, especially for those struggling with mental health challenges, we have partnered with several other Christians and organizations to develop the Chiara House initiative.  We are renovated a small apartment building in our neighbourhood that provides affordable housing, with a third of the space designated for those with mental health challenges.  Further, it is the home of a small intentional Christian community that shares life together and with their neighbours.
